Parental Rights Alert! Birth Control, Condoms, and STD Screening: Do Parents Have a Right to Know?

Alert!  Senate Bill 135 is a school wellness center bill that exposes the fact that, under Delaware law, parents do NOT have the right to know if the state is giving their kids condoms, oral birth control, pregnancy tests, and screening for STD’s. SB135 is about giving the wellness centers permission to bill a parents’ insurance; therefore, it is being pushed aggressively. Once again, this bill was brought up for a vote without adequate public notice. Within 3 hours of the hearing, we went to work on your behalf. The bill was tabled again. However, it will come back up in 5 weeks! Now is the time to be heard on this issue!
 
This problem needs to be corrected now or parents will be forced to choose between access to contraceptives without their knowledge or lose access to the health centers entirely.

3. The local school board decides if reproductive services are offered in the schools.  Run for school Board or find a solid person of character to run for your local school board, and then contact DFPC for training and support at info@delawarefamilies.org.
