Our Mission
The Delaware Family Policy Council was established in October of 2007. Our mission is: To strengthen, nurture, and shield our Delaware Families by developing faith based alliances with churches, pro-family organizations, community and civic leaders, and religious organizations. Our goal is to educate, equip, unify and engage the citizens of Delaware in advocating for family values and preserving the integrity of the family as an institution.
The Purpose That Drives It
Strong family values are the epicenter of our nation's health. God's design for the family is where virtue thrives. Research shows that the breakdown in our families is the engine that drives our most troubling social problems, including crime, poverty, divorce, unwanted pregnancies, academic failure, and teen suicide.
How We Will Make A difference In Delaware
Unity & Alliances -
The power of the network: DFPC is committed to bringing unity to the state of Delaware. We will work consistently to form alliances with organizations and individuals who understand what is at risk and will lock arms with us in accomplishing a shared vision of stronger families.
Strengthening: Equipping -
DFPC will, through nationally based association:
DFPC will communicate about the family in a way that is relevant, factual, increases understanding and causes people to act in support of healthy marriages and families. We will work with our allies and deliver strategic, positive messages through media and act as spokepersons for timely issues that involve the family. We will work to inform you of legislative efforts that would erode the values that make us strong. We will serve as a voice for the family and assist advocates for family values in the public arena. Our communication will be factual and principled in an effort to recapture the moral and intellectual high ground.
Engaging -
We will inspire people to engage in strengthening and shielding their family by increasing understanding, knowledge of available resources, and equipping and educating them to take action regardless of busyness or level of past involvement. Our goal is for our citizens to advocate for their own families and to preserve the integrity of the family as an institution.
Governing Principles
We believe that the message of strengthening and shielding families should be taken to all families in our community regardless of socio-economic status, age, racial or religious background. The family is the basic unit of society upon which all human activity rests. We believe family is the first school, the first business, the first church, the first community, the first building block of human society. To neglect the family and the role the family plays in transmitting values to our children is to tear at the moral and social fabric of our society.
We believe that children are our heritage and a blessing from God, in all their stages. We believe parents need to be educated and equipped at each stage to best shape, protect and navigate their children in realizing their gifts and purpose while preparing them for service in God's kingdom and in the world.
We believe that the institution of marriage as designed by God is the foundation of our human civilization. We will work to defend, protect, and strengthen marriages between one man and one woman. We believe that a two-parent family, with a mom and dad bonded together for life in marriage, is the best environment for raising children.
We are founded upon the belief that every person is made in the image of God. We believe that when this foundational truth is realized, every human life is treated as valuable from the moment of conception to the moment of death.

DFPC will, through nationally based association:
- Help strengthen marriages and reduce divorce by forming an alliance of Leaders in each of our counties who are intentional and pro-active in preparing individuals for the lifetime commitment of marriage. DFPC will provide resources for training community leaders in nationally recognized marriage and family programs aimed at engaged and married couples, singles, and stepfamilies.
- Work with parents, teenagers and community leaders in understanding how to protect kids from life-altering mistakes and preparing them for healthy, strong, future relationships.
- Provide the map and tools for quickly getting to resources consistent with Judeo-Christian values that can offer understanding, strength and healing to families facing challenges.
- Work with youth in equipping them with tools of fact and research based knowledge, while developing skills that will contribute to future generations of community leaders.
- Work with lawmakers to inform and compel them to act on behalf of what will strengthen the family.
- Work with our allies in getting laws passed that benefit families, marriages and children.
- We will provide communities with factual information by which to make decisions for choosing representation in public service.
